“The NeuViz 64 CT scanner has the ability to perform much more complex imaging examinations and will provide tremendous benefits to our patients,” said Lisa Millar, manager of the Radiology Department. “The computer and software technology are also much more powerful, which allows for quicker manipulation of images and data for the radiologist reading the scans. The software even produces pictures in 3D.”
“Neusoft, the manufacturer of the scanner, provided extensive training to the 10 CT scan technologists in our Radiology Department,” said Millar noting that they currently conduct between 15 and 20 patients scans each day. “The upgrade improves the quality of patient care by providing better image quality at the lowest possible radiation dose. The increased scanning speed will shorten exam and wait times for our patients, and will allow us to increase clinical studies to be done at our hospital.”
“Our specially trained and outstanding staff, is what makes that equipment produce these results. We are very proud of the high quality care offered to our patients by our radiologists and our skilled, technical and support staff,” said Millar.
The cost of the new CT project which included renovations to the radiology suite came close to $500,000.
“The NeuViz 64 CT scanner is a tremendous benefit to our patients,” said Chad Mullin, director of diagnostic services at Baystate Mary Lane Hospital. “The goal of our team is to make the patient feel as comfortable as possible, to acquire diagnostic images quickly and accurately, and to respond to what our health care providers need in order to provide the best care to our patients.”
