Earlier this year, Medical Imaging Technologies (M.I.T.) was selected as a provider of medical imaging equipment and service of that equipment by a new medical facility in Florida. M.I.T. will provide imaging devices and service to the new GuideWell Emergency Medicine Doctors clinic in Winter Park, Fla., as well as other facilities expected to open in the near future.

The video above shows Crucial Care Chief Medical Officer Dr. Nicholas Dodaro as he chats with Orlando Business Journal about what the new GuideWell Emergency Medicine Doctors walk-in clinic in Winter Park will offer in terms of immediate and continuing care.

The new 7,500-square-foot GuideWell Emergency Medicine Doctors clinic opened its doors on Dec. 10 at the Trader Joe’s-anchored Lakeside Winter Park retail center to new patients needing urgent-care assistance in a way that will not only tend to their immediate needs, but also prepare a plan on how to continue to get necessary care.

The new facility — which has 27 doctors, highly skilled nurses and technicians, patient-care coordinators and accountants — has 18 examination rooms that will offer three levels of care: acute, moderate and severe, which allows the doctors to treat more of a variety of cases than a traditional walk-in clinic.

Additionally, the facility features digital X-ray machines, CT scanners and ultrasound machines, where scans are completed, read and then written interpretations by board-certified radiologists can be prepared within 30 minutes, which help patients move on to the next steps of their treatment, said Howard Teitelbaum, vice president of market development for Jacksonville-based Crucial Care, which is operating the facility.

“Unlike when you go to the ER, here you will get directions for the next step if you need continuing care,” Teitelbaum said during a Dec. 8 pre-opening tour. “Of course, you’re not going to walk out saying ‘That was the best darned IV I ever had,’ but you’ll get quality care and continuing care.”
